If Power Platform apps were animals, what would they be?

This started out as a offhand question to ChatGPT just to see what it came up with, but it ended up being WAY more insightful than I expected, so I did a few more to share them. Me, anthropomorphizing? YES ALWAYS.

By the way, NEVER ask me “if you were an animal, what would you be?” in an interview or team-building session. I don’t know if it’s an introvert thing or social anxiety but that is like the very bottom of the list of things I am comfortable sharing for no particular reason as far as I can tell.

To be clear, these results are coming from ChatGPT, not from my brain, although I can tell you that I started with Power Automate and I guessed the same animal (octopus) that it came up with there, so score! I asked it to generate a Midjourney image prompt for each description just to see what it came up with, too, because why not.

Power Automate

Power Automate is an octopus, because of course it is. This one requires no explanation.

An octopus is known for its intelligence, flexibility, and efficiency, much like the characteristics of Power Automate. The octopus can control multiple limbs simultaneously, mirroring Power Automate’s ability to handle various tasks and processes at once. Its capability to adapt and solve problems in its environment parallels Power Automate’s versatility in automating workflows across different applications and services. Plus, the octopus’s ability to blend into its surroundings and operate effectively reflects Power Automate’s seamless integration into various digital environments.

GPT4 prompt: If Power Automate were an animal, what would it be?

PS, I did a follow-up of what it would be if it were a Dungeons & Dragons monster, and it’d be a beholder … for the multi-appendage multitasking I guess. It can’t be the disintegrate rays. 🤣

Power Apps

Power Apps is a beaver because:

Beavers are known for their remarkable ability to build and create complex structures in their environments, much like Power Apps enables users to build and develop complex applications to solve business problems and improve workflows. Beavers work efficiently and collaboratively, are highly adaptable, and make significant changes to their surroundings for the better—qualities that mirror the functionalities and benefits of Power Apps in enabling users to easily create, manage, and deploy custom applications tailored to specific needs without requiring professional programming skills.

GPT4 prompt: If Power Apps were a beaver, what would it be?

This is eerily accurate, though perhaps there should be some context about the actual object the beaver builds being in actuality a carefully placed pile of sticks, prone to break or become obsolete with environmental changes? Ok maybe I’ve just inherited more than my fair share of non-optimal things, you may sense a hint of bitterness there…

Power BI

Power BI is a hawk.

Hawks are known for their sharp vision, allowing them to see details from great distances, which mirrors Power BI’s ability to provide deep insights and clarity from vast amounts of data. Just as a hawk can survey its environment from a high vantage point to spot opportunities or threats, Power BI enables businesses to visualize and analyze data, helping users make informed decisions based on comprehensive analytics. The agility and speed of a hawk also reflect Power BI’s quick data processing capabilities and its ability to swiftly adapt to new information, making it a powerful tool for navigating the complex landscape of business intelligence.

GPT4 prompt: If Power BI were an animal, what would it be?

This fits, though perhaps a hybrid hawk/octopus would be appropriate here if we were allowing fantastical creatures. Maybe a bit Cthulu/mind flayer vibes idk. There is definitely needs to be a “combining stuff from all over the place” vibe.

Dataverse

Dataverse is a honeybee. Bear with me now, this one is pretty good:

Honeybees are known for their vital role in ecosystems through pollination, connecting various plants and contributing to the flourishing of diverse habitats. This mirrors Dataverse’s role in connecting and integrating data across various applications and services, facilitating the flow of information and enabling ecosystems of apps to work more efficiently together.

Honeybees collect nectar from different sources, turning it into honey, a process akin to Dataverse’s ability to aggregate data from multiple sources, standardize it, and make it accessible and useful for application development, analytics, and automation. Just as honeybees live in well-organized hives where each bee has a role that supports the collective, Dataverse provides a structured environment where data can be securely stored, managed, and shared, supporting the collaborative efforts of developers, users, and organizations.

Furthermore, the way honeybees communicate through dances to share information about food sources can be likened to how Dataverse allows for the seamless sharing and understanding of data across a business ecosystem, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency. Thus, the honeybee embodies the essence of Dataverse as a connector, facilitator, and nurturer of productive and collaborative digital environments.

GPT4 prompt: If Dataverse were an animal, what would it be?

There you have it! I feel like these would honestly be good descriptions to give people who are completely unfamiliar with the platforms, the parallels are quite good.
